Nose

Fresh fruits, apples, toffee, slightly funky, burnt sugar, towards the end (and with a bit of breathing time) come the slightly bitter & spicy old sherry nose

Body

Surprisingly fresh & fruity for a 45yo whisky, sweet fresh fruits, a hint of dark chocolate & coffee, again the old slightly bitter sherry notes only come towards the end & quite subtle, dates & tobacco

Finish

The finish is quite long & fulfilling for a 42,6% whisky, leather, tannic finish

A rare old sherry whisky that I actually enjoy - a delicate balance between sweet & bitter old dry sherry

Nose

Dark dried fruits, old sherry, raisins & dark apricots, dry leather, slightly creamy, dark chocolates & plums

Body

Surprisingly sweet & fresh, the bitter old sherry notes only kick in towards the end, the spices & bitterness are subtle & not as overwhelming as the dark sherry color would suggest With water it becomes sweeter but the oaky tannin dry sherry notes also become more pronounced

Finish

Medium finish with dry oaky notes

Nose

Typical old sherry profile, sweet dark fruits & berries, oranges, citric, slightly salty, minimal smoke

Body

The nose is a lot better than the taste, as expected from the 44% making it a bit thin & lackluster, taste slightly peated

Finish

Medium finish, dark chocolates

Nose

Lots of fresh fruits but no sign of spices & not hot at all despite the young age (50s whiskies are built different), honeydew & slightly creamy

Body

Very sweet, probably the sweetest whisky I’ve drank, with an intense fruity & slightly oaky/spicy tannin taste arriving after a few seconds With water the sweetness become more tame & the fragrant aromatic fruits become more pronounced

Finish

Medium, slightly oaky finish
