Signatory Vintage

A prime example of excellent Ardbeg from the 1970s, surprisingly sweet for an oak cask matured Ardbeg

Nose

A subtle & elegant meaty smoke, takes a while for the smoke to develops itself, an excellent well-rounded sweet & smoky nose, gets a bit creamy with water

Body

Punchy, sweet, briny, meaty, coal, oily, a bit waxy

Finish

Long dry, slightly spicy finish, the smoke lingers & is more balanced than the Kingsbury

Kingsbury

An excellent late 90s single cask Ardbeg from Kingsbury, especially for the price of just 340£, which is much more affordable than any of the OB Ardbeg Single Cask from the 90s and the 2000s!

Nose

Very typical meaty Ardbeg smoke, but rather elegant and not as punchy as I expected from the ABV, slightly sweet & herbal

Body

Sweet, meaty, slightly spicy, very punchy & intense just the way I would expect an Aaaaaardbeg to be, gets salty & briny, again quite BBQ & a bit coal/industrial towards the end With water the bitterness appear, would not recommend

Finish

Long, sweet, slightly spicy and mouthcoating finish, the meaty smokiness lingers for a while

Kingsbury

Although it’s a 50 Years Old whisky, it is definitely not as complex as I expected

Nose

Herbal, meaty, sweet, dark fruits, bready, a bit floral

Body

Sweet, honey, dark fruits, prunes, cherries, quite a balanced mix between the dark fruit bitterness and honeyed sweetness, not as dark old sherried as I expected

Finish

Medium, dry sweet finish, a bit oaky

A very interesting vatting of 1969 Bowmore, Bruichladdich, and Bunnahabhain in order to bring the whisky up to just above 40% as the cask of Bowmore was apparently below the threshold. Definitely does not expect anything near the quality of the legendary 1960s and 1970s Bowmore but at just around 750eur you really can't go wrong with a 1960s 36yo Islay whisky!

Nose

Alot of exotic fresh sweet tropical fruits, definitely a 1960s Islay alright, an amazing nose with a good balance between the floral sweet fruitiness & the subtle sea smokiness, peaches, subtle & elegant smoke

Body

Again, the smoke is there but very subtle & elegant as it gives way to the more prominent fruity sweetness, a bit briny, gets more bitter towards the end, oranges, peaches, creamy, mangoes, the body is definitely very Bunnabhain-dominated

Finish

Medium creamy finish, the creaminess is quite mouthcoating
