A good 1970s Longmorn that was hampered by the finish

Nose

Orchards, fresh fruits, definitely more fresh than the color suggest, slightly nutty & creamy

Body

Sweet, honey, slightly spicy, zesty, oranges

Finish

Long, oaky & bitter finish

Everytime I go to a whisky bar I tell myself to give these old style sherry whiskies another try as I don’t typically like them due to the dark & bitter profile

Nose

Definitely an old style sherry nose but one of the lighter ones that I’ve experienced

Body

Definitely has that dark fruits flavor but a bit grapy & only gets slightly bitter towards the end, definitely one of the tamest & easiest to drink old style sherry whisky that I’ve drank, which is surprising for me as I would expect a 1964 Glen Grant to be more like a typical old style sherry

Finish

Medium, slightly dry, bitter finish

Not a bad dram but not as good as I would expect from a 1960s Tomatin from the SV Dumpy line

Nose

Dried fruits, raisins, dark grapes, quite a sherried nose for an oak-matured Tomatin

Body

Definitely grapy but not too sweet, gets spicier towards the end

Finish

Short, tame finish as the spices die down

A good Glenturret with a very interesting & unique salty cheesy profile but not enough complexity as you would expect from a 34yo whisky

Nose

Very cheesy nose, definitely blue cheese, slightly salty

Body

Salty blue cheese that gets a bit sweeter and then slightly bitter & spicy towards the end, malty

Finish

Long dry finish, slightly oily

Nose

Floral, fresh fruits, green apples, honey

Body

Definitely one of the saltiest Speyside dram that I’ve drank, which is odd because I expected a sweet fruity honey profile; slightly creamy, not much fruit at all, a hint of Greek yogurt and a bit cheesy

Finish

Long salty finish
