After being somewhat disappointed from a myriad of Irish whiskeys in the past, from highly-rated 30+ year old Bushmills to 1990s Teeling to Knappogue Castles, I decided to give this sherried Teeling a try as recommended by House Welley. Beautiful bottle & color but more importantly this is probably the most impressive Teeling I’ve drank! The only downside is that finish gets a bit too sweet for my liking & the price for the full bottle is too high imo (800-900£ at auctions)
Nose
Very tropical fruits, guava, gummy, sweet
Body
Definitely one of the more complex Irish whiskey I’ve came across, there’s a delicate balance between the usually dominant sweet sherry & the tropical fruitiness (mangos, guavas, some bananas) of the Teeling distillate; it’s a very difficult balance to achieve but I must say this dram did it!
