One of those whiskies where the nose barely has any smoke but upon drinking it will hit you like a truck - excellent Brora

One of those whiskies where the nose barely has any smoke but upon drinking it will hit you like a truck - excellent Brora

Nose

Farm, salty smoke, candlewax, warm, creamy, caramel, barely any smoke

Body

Very intense, sweet & spicy, grassy & hay, burnt caramel - with water the smoke comes out like burnt coal, industrial salty grassy smoke

Finish

Dry finish, coastal & salty with some slightly peppery spiciness

WhiskyNotes — Ruben

Retrieved 05 October 2026

WhiskyNotes describes a lean, coastal nose with wax, earthy peat, herbs and apple. The palate adds waxy citrus, pepper, salt, seaweed and honey. A long finish carries light smoke and a sharp mustard note. Ruben awarded this Rare Malts release 92 points.

Whiskyfun — Serge Valentin

Serge finds earthy smoke, coal and farmyard aromas. Hay, tobacco and cardamom lead the palate; water adds slight sweetness. He admires its austerity and salty coastal finish, retaining his earlier score.
