Nose

A very sweet & sherried nose, definitely a cask-driven sherried Laphroaig

Body

A very salty & sherried, dried dark fruits, slightly sour/sulphuric Laphroaig, definitely not my cup of tea

Finish

The finish has some smokiness but not enough to salvage the dram unfortunately

Nose

Meaty & briny

Body

Very sweet & a relatively thin palate for an Octomore, definitely the easiest to drink Octomore for me, like a watered down version of the Octomores that I have drank, the body

Finish

Medium but slightly spicy aftertaste

Nose

Typical Ardbeg nose, or perhaps that of a slightly older Caol Ila, predominantly meaty but also slightly floral & sweet

Body

A very easy to drink dram despite being 51% with a kinda funky & moldy weird note that I haven’t experience before from an Islay dram

Having tasted the OB Pittyvaich 29 & 30yo, I would say that this is a rare case where I enjoyed the OBs better

Nose

Floral, creamy, sweet, honey

Body

The body is definitely that of a sherried whisky, but a more modern sherry taste, caramel, burnt sugars, slightly salty

Finish

Slightly dry finish, slightly more complex than the Braeval but just an average Pittyvaich for me, nothing mindblowing.

My first Braeval and it’s slightly disappointing for a 36yo dram as there’s not as much oomph or complexity as I would expect, considering the almost £500 at retail, I would not say that it is worth the price

Nose

Fresh fruits, nutty, leaning towards almonds, slightly grape-y

Body

Punchy body, a distinctive fruity taste, grapefruits, blood oranges, quite sweet

Finish

Slightly dry, medium finish
