The Amber Room ledger

An excellent 1960s Springbank although the spiciness does hampers it a bit

A disappointing 30yo Springbank, especially considering the price of 400+ EUR. This is a dram that definitely needs some breathing room, as it becomes less sulphuric after time but definitely still very sweet

The most interesting cask composition that I have seen from a Springbank, I typically don’t try to get bottles like these (young age, 200x or later) as I find them vastly overpriced and with mixed reviews but I was happy to try a dram of this as recommended by Vincent at House Welley who picked this bottle.

A Springbank from Mr.Springbank himself Michael Wigman. A balanced & delicate dram, nothing that stands out as amazing but no offnotes either, definitely not worth the price tag of a 30yo Springbank

A fascinating Springbank that’s almost 30 years old bottled at a respectable 48,2% from a somewhat normal mixture of Sherry Hogshead, Sherry Butt, Bourbon, and Rum Barrels. An above-average, slightly cask-driven & slightly heavy sherry influenced Springbank at ~150£ for a 20cl bottle (certainly on the cheaper end and affordable for Springbanks; at the original RRP of £110 it would be worth it imo)Definitely prefer this over the port casks or more rum influenced Springbanks as the character of the distillery still somewhat remains and is allowed to shine through the cask influence
