A pair of very interesting & rare Chichibus as they are only (supposedly) sold for bars & hotels and not available for retail. Distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2022 from a single cask by the top-tier La Maison du Whisky both at 60+% ABV. A side-by-side tasting of the Tasogare (peated) and Akatsuki (unpeated) bottlings.

Body

Floral, cherry blossoms, sweet, fresh orchard fruits, mouthcoating, slightly oily, milk chocolates; a very balanced, delicate, and enjoyable dram considering that it’s 63,4% and only 7 years old

Whiskyfun rates Akatsuki 91 points. Full strength is forceful; dilution reveals intricate herbal and citrus aromas, followed by honeyed tropical fruit. The long, fresh finish combines fruit, green apple and herbs. The critic regards it as a step above the preceding bottlings.
